Through its 32 departments the University of Bologna invests in a multidisciplinary cross-cultural approach to bioeconomy thanks to the inseparable connection between research and teaching, the promotion of international networking and young researchers' mobilization. The University of Bologna has dedicated growing attention to the circular bioeconomy and phosphorus themes, with a number of projects funded in the field of Horizon 2020, EIT Raw Materials, EIT Climate KIC as well as national and regional funding schemes.
The University of Bologna is coordinating Prosumer, a recently started project (funded by EIT Climate-KIC, project n. 200103, 2020) that will assess and develop business models for the techno-economic feasibility of P recovery from waste streams in the Italian agri-food sector and its reuse in fertilizers.
