Clariant and Phosphorus

As one of the world’s leading specialty chemical companies, Clariant contributes to value creation with innovative and sustainable solutions for customers from many industries. 

Among other products Clariant produces a variety of phosphorus based additives like flame retardants and antioxidants as well as some other P-specialties for different purposes in Europe.

The Clariant plants at the “Chemiepark Knapsack” site, near Cologne/Germany, are the backbone of its phosphorus based flame retardant chemistry and are important users of elemental (white) phosphorus and other P based raw materials.

Securing a sustainable future for environmentally friendly phosphorus products is one of the main goals within Clariant’s Business Unit Additives. As a member of the ESPP Clariant Produkte (Deutschland) GmbH wants to support and participate in projects dealing with the development of more sustainable P-sources for specialty chemicals.
